Philanthropic Organization Suhana & Anis Ahmed Foundation (SAAF) Backs icddr,b to Install New Medical Equipment

Suhana & Anis Ahmed Foundation (SAAF) has recently donated new medical equipment worth Tk 30 lakh to icddr,b.

The Foundation in a press release on Saturday said it made the donation in a bid to boost the icddr,b’s effort in providing free of charge diarrhoeal disease and malnutrition treatment to its patients.

The medical equipment includes a portable X-ray machine, infusion pump, cardiac monitor, defibrillator machine, GlideScope/video laryngoscope, ECG machine, crash carts, pulse oximeters (robust version), non-contact thermometers, digital BP machine, oxygen flow meter and AMBU bag, the news release said.

The Dhaka hospital of icddr,b is the largest diarrhoeal disease hospital in the world. Together with its Matlab hospital in Chandpur icddr,b provides free of charge treatment to over 200,000 vulnerable people every year.

Commencing its journey in 2009, SAAF has been striving for bringing positive social changes through finding creative means of supporting the underprivileged, the press release said.

On the occasion, co-Founder and Trustee of SAAF Anis Ahmed said, “icddr,b has been selflessly providing free of charge treatment to locals since its inception in the sixties. Many adults would not be alive today without the timely care of this hospital. We feel great to be a part of this noble effort of icddr,b and we believe with our support icddr,b will continue to serve more people with quality care.”

In his remark, icddr,b’s Executive Director Dr Tahmeed Ahmed said, “Without the generous support from donors and philanthropists across the world including Suhana & Anis Ahmed Foundation, it would be a daunting task to keep on serving those who are in need. I would like to thank SAAF for its gracious support, and would like to invite others to join hands in our endeavour to provide free of charge treatment to the disadvantaged people of the country.”
